Judges Selection – Fournier!

For the second year in a row David Milligan Selections is honored to import a Judge’s Selection from the esteemed Texsom Conference in Texas. Last year it was Domaine du Vieux Lazaret Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2017.

This year we were honored with Best Sauvignon Blanc, Domaine Fournier “Les Belles Vignes” Sancerre 2018. This historic estate is a benchmark in the Sancerre appellation and, for the last few years, has been on a quest to elevate their wines. Clearly, with great success.

The “Les Belles Vignes” bottling comes from a selection of parcels across the appellation, representing all three of the core terroir. Primarily the vineyards are situated in Bue, Maimbray and their home village of Verdigny.

James Suckling describes this classic Sancerre thusly “Exotic aromas of mango, papaya and lime with fresh thyme and other herbs. Medium body. Crisp acidity. Serious Sancere here. Drink now.” He awarded the wine 93 Points.
