After many years of steady progression, a successful audit for Chateau de Pizay just earned them the 3rd level of environmental certification of farms. Pizay is now recognized as “High Environmental Value level 3”. There are now 54 HVE certified hectares (and 5 other hectares certified organic since 1996), the Estate is positioning itself as a champion of environmental responsibility in Beaujolais!
This certification is a lengthy process. Very binding, it analyzes each practice implemented in the vineyards: weed and treatment plots, respect streams, nitrogen levels … The Estate was already certified Level 2 so this is the final step. The certification is valid for 3 years, with a progress report in 18 months.
